SWEET ERMENGARDE

SWEET ERMENGARDE

The long wait is over. 8 years after their last album, "Ex Oblivione," SWEET ERMENGARDE has made us wait for a successor! And the wait was worth it. It is the first album with the new singer Drew Freeman and represents another milestone in the band's already 13-year history in every aspect. The diverse influences of the musicians merge into an intense journey where you experience both the dark, melancholic side of the band and powerful, melodic passages. SACRIFICE, like SWEET ERMENGARDE's previous albums, impresses with sophisticated, varied compositions, fueled by the interplay between atmospheric clean guitar sounds, progressive riffing, driving bass lines, and powerful drums. The spectrum ranges from slow-paced Gothic Rock, as in the opener "Fragments," to catchy songs like "Sweet Sacrifice" or "The 5th Horizon," which also do justice to the band's Post Punk and Wave influences, to almost metal-like outbursts in the explosive "Embers Fall." With a total of 13 new songs and a runtime of almost 70 minutes, "SACRIFICE" promises to be an intense journey through the world of elegiac Goth-Rock that does not shy away from any comparison with the icons of days gone by.
